About

The Novium, built around the remains of a Roman bathhouse, is Chichester District's museum and tourist information centre, and will take you on a journey across time, covering over 500,000 years of history! When you visit, you will be able to see the archaeological site of the Bathhouse, and watch a short film showing how the baths might have been used. The baths were a massive complex, and the remains about one of the most significant Roman finds in Chichester!

A number of iconic Roman objects are also on display, including a piece of the monumental Roman sculpture called the ‘Bosham Head'. The first floor holds temporary exhibitions displayed in a huge cube case, and a small reference library documenting the archaeology of the city, which you are welcome to use. The second floor focuses on human emotion and personal experience, with objects grouped by theme to inspire conversation, and the top floor of the museum provides stunning views of the cathedral and bell tower.

The Novium is free to visit, and has a number of interactive displays for families to enjoy, such as magnet mosaics, trying on helmets, and lots of interactive drawers with surprises inside. Free additional drop in craft activities run at during holidays and weekends, plus regular booked children's craft workshops during holidays.
