About
Winchester Castle and Great Hall gives you and the kids a chance to visit one of the finest remaining medieval halls, which contains a replica of King Arthur's Round Table. The hall is all that is left of Winchester Castle, which was built in 1067! It is a vast stone building with lots of interesting features to check out including beautiful stained glass windows.
Seeing the ancient Round Table is a must. 5 metres in diametre and weighs 200kg! Kids will be fascinated by the history and legends surrounding the table.
Everyone will enjoy Queen Eleanor's Garden, which is a nice little historically planted garden at the back of the Great Hall and a chance to get back out into the sunshine and indulge some imagination play. There are often historically themed events for kids during the holidays such as story telling in costume so check through for more information about what's coming up and bag yourselves some extra fun for the trip! School holidays are a common time to find their programme getting active.
Easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs so the hall is suitable for anyone to visit, but we recommend that you check ahead through our link before you visit as the Hall is sometimes closed for other events.
