West Shed Museum

Visit the West Shed Museum: home to historic steam locomotives. Train enthusiasts will have plenty to get excited about, with films and hands on activities, railway carriages with displays and an active engineering workshop. You can even sit on a miniature engine, or follow the Maggie Moggy trail.

During the school holidays they make sure crafty kids are kept busy with arts activities and the chance to make a ‘junk model’ train from colourful debris (on selected days - get in touch to find out when). All of this and the chance to see a model railway whizz round the track, as well as two 1930s steam locomotives! The site is kitted out with picnic areas, a playground and country park for those rare but lovely sunny days.
