About
Stokesay Castle Explore the Great Hall and the North Tower, survey the Solar and scale the South Tower, plus be sure to check out the carvings in the gatehouse frames! A really atmospheric and pleasing adventure for curious kids to help brings all those stories and lessons to life. There's a free audio guide tour included with your ticket entry so if the kids are big enough to pay attention to it then it's a great way to get them the most out of it.
To flesh it out for younger kids seek out the book box for bored moments and read a castle story. Outside there's a moat walk in the cottage garden through the courtyard which is great for pictures but be careful with little ones near the water of course. Picnicking is not allowed inside the castle grounds but apparently you can eat on the benches just outside if you like!
There's a cash only Tearoom with terrific views of the surrounding Shropshire hills and countryside and all kinds of loo you'll need. It does hot and cold savoury snacks and drinks, plus vegetarian and gluten free options. There are toy swords and dressing up outfits in the gift shop so you could let them take their pocket money and even go in there first, so they can explore in costume!
