Woburn Abbey and Gardens has a beautiful building and stunning grounds to explore. With over 22 rooms to investigate, you'll find they're full of collections, including vaults of gold and silver! The Woburn Estate Did you know that Woburn Abbey has been the home of the 15th Duke and Duchess of Bedford and in the family since the 1620s?
That's a lot of family history to uncover! Not only that, but the estate has housed many famous figures, from Henry VIII to John Robert Russell and Henry Holland. Currently, they're undergoing a major refurbishment programme - so Woburn Abbey will be closed until the spring of 2025!
But don't worry, Woburn Safari Park and its golf club will remain open. Things To Do Undergo an exploration! The kids will love the unique 17th-century undersea cavern, called The Grotto, carved to look like seaweed and stalactites, with a ceiling covered in shells.
It's a sight to see! The incredible stately home holds a fascinating world-class collection of art and a remarkable collection of architectural styles! Not to mention the impressive 17th-century Japanese porcelain if you're a fan of pottery!
Glorious Gardens The grounds have acres of gardens worth discovering! Whether you choose to explore the formal gardens or wind around the Hornbeam Maze. Plus, a Chinese Dairy and the Cone House, which are spectacular viewing platforms.
There is also a Folly and Children's garden, a bog garden and a traditional kitchen garden. The Aviary and pavilion are worth a look too! Still want more?
Take a stroll around the 3,000-acre deer park, with 9 types of deer and over 1200 deer! Dogs are allowed to come (but not in the Abbey grounds or Gardens), provided they are kept on the lead. Seasonal Events It is worth checking online before you visit as a number of events are held here throughout the year such as classic car shows, a country fair and open-air theatre, to name but a few!
Food & Drink You'll find a cafe onsite where you can nibble on a various selection of light bites and meals. Even cakes and bakes! Not to mention a range of refreshments and drinks.
