About
Wellingborough Museum encourages kids to visit and have fun, and hold special events during the holidays, such as special reenactments and animal visitors. Even when there are no events, there are still loads to see and do. 4 seaside arcade machines are dotted around the museum, which date back to the 1950s and only work with pre decimal currency (you can buy this at the front desk) and give you the chance to win chocolate!
There's a beautifully restored 1920s pianola, which you can have a go on, a model train display of Wellinborough's Midland Road station. This usually runs on Saturdays, but they may be able to operate it especially for you if you ask. And make sure you behave or you might have to test the pillary!
A number of permanent exhibitions cover different periods of history such as the Iron Age, Roman times and the Middle Ages. You can also find out about industry between 1800s and 1900s, plus both world wars. A great little museum that is run entirely by a team of friendly volunteers.
Good for: all ages, babies toddlers, older children, teenagers, young children
