About
Take to the seven seas and celebrate the history of local flatner boats at the Watchet Boat Museum. With a yo ho ho and a bottle of (non-alcoholic) rum, it’s a great way to explore life on the sea. ) as well as plenty to keep your pint-sized pirates busy.
They can dress up and hop aboard a playboat or show of their inner artist at the colouring-in station; there’s no need to stay inside the lines here! Then they can go fossil-finding in a sand pit to prove their bonafide explorer credentials. The museum treasures flatner boats and their distinctive design - local fisherman used to go out in them when the tide was low to see what they could get their hands on.
Also, fun fact: the building that houses the museum was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and began life as a goods shed in 1862.
Good for: all ages, babies toddlers, older children, teenagers, young children
