Uppark House and Gardens - Photo 1

About

Perched high on the South Downs ridge, Uppark House and Gardens is a tranquil and eminently explorable 18th century house, commanding southern views as far as the English Channel! Uppark's variety of Georgian interiors help illustrate for kids the luxury of life ‘upstairs', in contrast with the somewhat grimmer ‘downstairs' world of the house's servants. Take time to view the magnificent and historic doll's house, reliably described as one of the most important British dolls' houses anywhere in the UK!

Outside, the charming gardens are being restored to their original 18th-century design, with plenty of space in the meadow to play and picnic. The nearby woodland is great for exploring and den-building and as it's set within the lovely South Downs National Park, you can enjoy views of the Sussex landscape all the way to the sea! You can also climb the woodland hill and seek out the Eco Bench.

Plus you can enjoy seasonal quiz trails (collected from the Golden Gate kiosk) and halloween ghost tours, roll yourselves cheese style down the urn mound, sniff up a storm in the scented garden and whisper into the echoing tunnels hidden behind the stables...

Good for: older children, teenagers, young children
