About
Tyntesfield is a spectacular Victorian Gothic Revival house amidst eminently explorable landscaped gardens and spacious parkland. As well as offering a wealth of attractions, Tyntesfield houses a cafe, gift shop and garden shop. Nearby there are three play areas for different age groups, as well as a den building village in the woodland.
The Kitchen Gardens are worth a look year round to see what seasonal produce they're showcasing, too. The Kitchen Garden has been providing fruit and vegetables for the Tyntesfield estate since the 1860s. Today, the majority of the produce is used in the Cow Barn restaurant, with the rest available to take home, for a donation, from their produce table.
There are also regular events and activities available for all ages, such as pop-up craft workshops, festive offerings, woodland adventures, fascinating art exhibitions, and outdoor theatre. As a point of interest if you'd like to throw the kids for a loop, this entire grandiose estate was easily purchased by the extremely wealthy Gibbs family, who made their fortune selling bird poop. Completely true!
