The Equestrian Centre at Holme Lacy

5 days a week – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday mornings. Our sessions are for 30-minutes and within small groups of up to 5 people. We have 2 hoists for those participants that are wheelchair bound, in order for them to be able to mount/dismount the horses.

Our amazing mechanical horse ‘Steady Eddie’ can be used for participants wanting to work on their core strength/ position or to build confidence in a faster pace. Ground based Equine Activities We also offer activities from the ground, providing participants with the opportunity to gain greater benefit from spending time around our horses and ponies. We offer sessions where participants can spend time on the yard, grooming or even time talking to the pony.

Participants can also take a pony for a walk around the centre to encourage bonding and interaction. Our RDA coaches follow the training qualifications pathway through the National Riding for the Disabled association and are assessed regularly by regional RDA coaches. They attend training courses throughout the year on safeguarding, coaching techniques and updates on assisting participants with different medical conditions.
