About

Bursledon Brickworks were built in 1897 and by the 1930s were producing up to 20 million bricks a year. All the old machinery still exists and is working including the steam engine. Once a month on the big Steam-Up Event Days they get the whole lot in steam.

There are lots of hands on activities for children. The Event Days are held on Sundays monthly from April to November. On these days there are lots of other activities.

There is a miniature railway which gives rides throughout the day. There are traction engines on site that join us for most Open Days. There is a big exhibition area upstairs where they have craft stalls or exhibitions and a courtyard for displays.

The variety of activities on offer is very wide, ranging from birds of prey to model railways!

Good for: older children, teenagers, young children
