St Neots Museum

St Neots Museum tells the story of this busy market town from prehistoric times to the present day. There is an interesting selection of photographs and objects, plus a number of hands on activities, which the kids will love. The museum building used to be a Victorian police station and Magistrates Court and you can still visit the cells, which are almost the same as when they were built in 1907!

The different galleries give you a chance to find out subjects such as what home life was like before electricity and appliances or to try sitting at a Victorian school bench while you write on a slate. There are also uniforms plus other clothes and hats to try on. You can also learn the story of St Neots himself, the age of the Great North road and the arrival in 1851 of the Great Northern Railway.

A number of events are held throughout the year and there are family craft workshops on offer during the school holidays. There is much more to see and find out about than you would expect in this little place, definitely worth a visit, even if you live locally.
