About

At SeaCity Museum there are 2 permanent exhibition galleries available here. The main exhibition area of SeaCity Museum tells the story of the impact on Southampton of the 1912 Titanic tragedy. Using a fascinating and intricate 1:25 scale interactive model of the ship, visitors are offered insight into the lives of the Titanic's crew, many of whom were residents of Southampton.

It's detailed and obviously has the facts of the case but it's not deliberately upsetting or harrowing. That said of course it is an upsetting thing, so might want to give it extra thought before taking sensitive ones. Meanwhile in the Gateway to the World exhibit they use the city's unique historical artefact collections to recount the stories of people who've arrived in and departed from the port of Southampton over the last 200,000 years, all the way from the earliest settlers to the people living in the city today!

Plus the Special Exhibitions held in The Pavilion change on a regular basis, so the content and also the price to access it varies with the changing displays. Worth checking ahead then if you're watching the pennies! And if you fancy extending your day with an educational saunter afterwards, try downloading the Titanic Trail and the Old Town Walk to enjoy together after your visit!

Plus they offer combination tickets with the Tudor House and Garden nearby and are right next door to the Southampton City Art Gallery. Loads of ways to boost your very civilised day trip!
