Saxtead Green Post Mill - Photo 1

About

Saxtead Green Post Mill Saxtead Green Post Mill is a traditional corn mill, whose whole body revolves on its base and is one of many built in Suffolk in the late 13th century. Although milling actually ceased in 1947, it is still in working order which may well be the only chance you get to see one! Climb the stairs to various floors, which are full of fascinating old fashioned mill machinery in the company of their factual audio tour.

You can also explore the small permanent exhibits to get the most education from the trip, a brilliant source for extra credit school work. Saxtead Green Post Mill makes an interesting addition to your day out in Suffolk and is easily combined with a visit to Framlingham Castle! It's worth noting a few restrictions, picnicking is not permitted and neither are dogs or pushchairs.

The nearest eating, drinking and bathroom facilities are located at the village Public House nearby. It is however well worth taking a camera long as the mill itself is charmingly bright white and looks very scenic in the backdrop of a family photo. Bonus!

Good for: older children, teenagers, young children
