About

Sandall Beat Wood is one of the most popular woodlands in Doncaster, and is ideal for walks, cycling, picnics, and walking dogs, with a network of rides and footpaths to explore. There is also a Visitor's Centre, and a large playground to keep the kids happy! Kids will love exploring the woods, riding their bikes around the paths but will they dare to descend the tower slide in the adventure playground?

The woodland covers 140 acres and has many trails to explore, including Covill's Trail, which is a 2km way marked circular path with a hard, level surface that is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The woodland park is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve, so there is plenty of wildlife to look out for. If the kids would like to get closer to nature, there is Junior Rangers for children aged 8 to 11 years, and Teen Rangers for children aged 12 to 15 years.

Juniors can participate in fun activities such as pond dipping, shelter building, games, and crafts. Teens can learn bush craft and survival skills, plus practical woodland management (membership £1 per person). If you would like to get involved with the kids, try Green Guardians, which offers free monthly activities about and for the environment, especially for you and your child to share.

All groups meet at Sandall Beat Community Environment Centre , off Leger Way.
