About

Saffron Walden Museum is a great local museum that has been entertaining visitors since it opened in 1835. There are many permanent exhibitions, covering Ancient Egypt, Greece, local archaeology, local history, natural history, fossils, costume, toys, ceramics, furniture and World culture. There are also regular temporary exhibitions on various themes from art to archaeology.

There are lots of great activities for children from excavating in the archaeology sandpit, to games and fancy dress, as well as plenty of high quality info to keep the grown ups amused and to challenge the little grey cells! Come and meet Wallace the Lion, their mascot, or maybe pay a visit to the boy mummy in the Egyptian room: they are both very friendly!

Good for: all ages, babies toddlers, older children, teenagers, young children
