About

Wray Castle is a veritable king of castles: turrets, towers, period dressing-up, castle building room, hidden treasure to find, the new Peter Rabbit Adventure - and you can also arrive by boat! Wowsers - can we come with you?? Unlike many National Trust properties, this one came into their possession completely empty, so don't expect piles of art and walls swathed with tapestries - they've filled it with something much better!

The Peter Rabbit Adventure rooms are ideal for the smallest visitors; play in plucky Peter's burrow, explore the wicked Mr McGregor's garden, plan out your adventures in the secret tree house and then chill out in Old Brown's nest, if you dare! You'll also find period dressing up facilities and a fairly awesome castle building room to get creative in! The boat from Ambleside drops off at the castle's private jetty, where the kids can stretch their legs and vent their excitement on the short but green and spacious walk up to the castle itself.

There are regular boats direct from Ambleside or a bus service running from Ferry Nab via Hill Top and Hawkshead. En route but pretty near the castle you'll find a den building area, rope swing and family trails plus plenty of space to run, hide and play. A truly great day out!
