About

Woodberry Wetlands is a haven for wildlife and people, created at the Stoke Newington East Reservoir in Hackney. It is 17 hectares of reed-fringed ponds and dykes five minutes' walk from the densely built up areas of Manor House, Stoke Newington and Woodberry Down. The contrast between the surrounding tower blocks and the wild wetland habitat with old oak trees is almost unbelievable.

Woodberry Wetlands is an ideal family day out, with a woodland trail, walkway through the reeds, waterside path and roof terrace café with stunning views in all directions. There will also be a number of children's activity sessions at weekends and during school holidays. These include Wildlife Gardening for Kids, Crafty Kids Nature Workshops and the Wild Adventure Club – a series of outdoor activities including bushcraft, tracking, orienteering and identifying wildlife.

Please visit the events section of our website for more information on these sessions. Woodberry Wetlands offers great opportunities for people to enjoy nature in the heart of London, free of charge. Working with Thames Water, London Wildlife Trust has carefully built a urban wetland oasis rich in wildlife.

Kingfishers dart across water, whilst reed warblers, bees and dragonflies buzz around the reeds. You'll be amazed you are in London. The London Wildlife Trust is the only charity dedicated solely to protecting the capital's wildlife and wild spaces, engaging London's diverse communities through access to our nature reserves, campaigning, volunteering and outdoor learning.
