Windrush Path Mosaic Trail
Standlake, Oxfordshire
Standlake, OX29 7RA

About
The charming and eminently explorable Windrush Path Mosaic Trail consists of a series of striking and individual mosaics to act as way-markers and points of interest along a scenic 2 mile footpath. Ideal for keeping the kids interested and making physical progress, charging as they tend to between one and the next shrieking I Saw It First! They've used exclusively recycled materials, many of them donated by local people, so it should be used not just to inspire the kids' creativity but also their appreciation of community spirit.
Why not spot thinks you have lying around at home and seek them out for gluey purposes once you get back? The Lower Windrush Valley Mosaic Trail can be started at either Standlake or Newbridge with differing parking and amenity situations at either so choose wisely. Once you're on it though from whichever side it's a flat and accessible walk taking in a few bridges and stiles too.
It's around 2 miles long and you should allow about 1 hour each way to enjoy all the mosaics along the trail but of course it will vary on your own group. Take as long as you like! Half way along the path you can visit Standlake Common Nature Reserve before continuing on to the attractive village of Standlake, so depending on how wild or civilised you'd like your adventure to be you can stick to the countryside or slip into the people zone and nose around there too.
Please note that the address given is for satnav to get you close, but it won't take you right there so please plan your journey independently.
