About

Tring Local History Museum is a really interesting place to visit and it is small enough that even the little ones will manage it in a reasonable amount of time. The exhibits cover several time periods, from prehistoric to medieval and both the World Wars. You can also learn about the industrial revolution and how the rural way of life in Tring was affected by the changes through time.

You can also have a go at plaiting straw and there is an area dedicated to children's activities like dressing up in Victorian costumes. There are a number of stuffed animals and birds to look at, plus an interesting video explaining how they were stuffed. Kids should also look out for the ‘Mexican Dancing Fleas' dancing in costumes – amazing!

The museum is run by a team of friendly and helpful volunteers and all the displays are well organised and easy to read. A visit will take less than an hour, but some of the displays are changed regularly, so there is always something new to see.

Good for: all ages, babies toddlers, older children, teenagers, young children
