About
Panning for minerals in our stream is always popular with children of all ages, and it's a main attraction at Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum! Explore, learn, and get hands on in this ultimate family day out. Their narrow gauge railway provides rides above ground on their selection of engines.
Equally exciting however is the ride in a reconditioned mine train, which dips into the inner quarry allowing unusual views of the quarry face! Around this area you can also find the impressive vintage machinery to look at, including functional excavators - in fact it's even home to the Vintage Excavator Trust! The Quarry and Mining Rooms each offer a range of artefacts and memorabilia related to their themes, with strong educational value throughout.
Plenty to see and do and certainly plenty to learn!
Good for: older children, teenagers
