About

The Mad Museum is where sprockets, robotics and wild paraphernalia are yours to explore. While others say hands off, they demand a hands-on approach to over 50 crazy contraptions. Press buttons, turn screws and release your ‘inner inventor’!

This is the UK’s only mechanical arts museum and their mission is to promote STEM: better understood as Science, Technology, Engineering and Design. In doing so they’ve pulled together a colossal collection of robotic birds, sand pictures, 3D faces and an enormous MAD Marble wall. You can design and build your very own run on the wall and watch as marbles fly through!

The museum’s founder has even got in on the act and created ‘The Kitchenator’ - a rolling ball sculpture built entirely from items you’d find in an everyday kitchen. It’s a joy to watch kids step away from the remote and interact, learn and explore. Any budding engineers will find a little piece of heaven here, while the whole family can enjoy the eccentric surroundings and witty team of resident artists.

You won’t forget a day out here so don’t delay!
