About

Set in over 500 acres of historic deer park, Wollaton Hall is a frankly spectacular Tudor building, completed way back in 1588 and now the home to the city's Natural History Museum! Plus Wollaton's Courtyard Stables are home to the city's Industrial Museum, the Steam Engine House, the Wollaton Visitor Centre and the Yard Gallery, with a changing programme of exhibitions suitable for families exploring art and the environment. Highlights of the National Connections Gallery include an orangutan skeleton, a hippo's skull and a Humboldt penguin, alongside many other mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, insects and interesting fossils.

The Bird Gallery naturally contains their taxidermied Victorian birds and game heads, along with more contemporary specimens, all ideal for some up close study or the beautiful beasties. Spectacular butterflies, moths, beetles and bugs from around the world are on display too in the Insect Gallery, plus the Nottingham Natural History Museum's famous gorilla and giraffe specimens can be seen in the African Gallery, together with their cheerful cheetah! There are daily public tours of the hall available at 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00 whenever the hall is open.

Segway tours of Wollaton Park are available on the last Sunday of the month, for an exciting way of exploring the grounds: for specific times and dates, please contact directly.
