One of the biggest tragedies in British history was the sinking of the great Titanic Ship, the then largest ship in the world . Did you know it was registered in Liverpool and that's why the ship carried its name? However, it docked from Southampton for New York on 10th April 1912 .
Here at the Maritime Museum, you can learn all about the Titanic story and her history in a whole new way. Titanic's History The Titanic was part of the White Star Line and their New York voyages had mostly sailed from Liverpool until 1907 when it was transferred to Southampton due to competition from the Lusitania and Mauretania sailing ships. At the Maritime Museum part of National Museums Liverpool, you'll hear about the untold story of key people on board and those who played a central role in helping those during the accident.
