The Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology

The Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology is recognised as the fourth largest collection of Greek ceramics in Britain at over 2,000 objects so there's loads of stuff to see here for your little history buffs! The collection primarily consists of material from the Greek and Greco-Roman civilisations of the Mediterranean, most notably Greek and Etruscan ceramics and terracottas. Other artefacts include prehistoric pottery, as well as metal and stone artefacts of Greek and Roman date.

There is also an important collection of Egyptian antiquities, ranging from the Pre-dynastic to the Roman period. There are approximately 2000 objects in the museum, though not all of which can be displayed at any one time so if you're going in with fore knowledge and hope to see a specific piece it's well worth contacting them ahead of time and asking about it. They run various events throughout the year which are worth looking out for too!

All in all a firmly educational trip but a fascinating one nonetheless. Why not pick up some air-dry clay in advance for them to make their own pottery when you get home?
